Fairway Finders ("we," "our," or "the app") is a social golf networking platform that helps users find and join tee times through their extended network of connections. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have regarding your data.
2. Information We Collect
When you create an account and set up your golfer profile, we collect:
- Account information: Your email address and password (encrypted).
- Profile details: Display name, age, gender, handicap, skill level, city, home course, and a profile photo if you choose to upload one.
- Golf preferences: Playing style, pace, cart preference, tee box, gambling, drinking, smoking, and music preferences — used solely for compatibility matching.
- Location data: City-level location (derived from your profile) used to show nearby tee times and golfers. We do not track precise GPS location in the background.
- Tee time data: Tee times you post or join, including course name, date, time, and player lists.
- Messages: Direct messages and group chat content you send within the app.
- Connection data: Your connections, connection requests, and mutual connections.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and maintain your golfer profile.
- To match you with compatible golfers based on your preferences.
- To display tee times from your extended network (friends and friends of friends).
- To facilitate messaging between connected golfers.
- To send push notifications about tee times, join requests, and messages.
- To improve the app's matching algorithm and user experience.
4. Who Can See Your Information
Your profile information (name, photo, golf preferences, city, and home course) is visible to other Fairway Finders users. Your tee times are visible to users in your extended network. Direct messages are visible only to you and the recipient (or group chat participants). Your email address and password are never shown to other users.
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at admin@fairwayfinders.us or through the in-app account deletion feature. Upon deletion, your profile, tee times, messages, and connections will be permanently removed.
6. Device Permissions
The app requests access to the following device capabilities. Each permission is used only for the purpose described and is never sold or shared with third parties:
- Camera & Photo Library: Used to take or select a profile photo when you set up or edit your golfer profile. Images are uploaded only when you choose to add or update your photo and are never accessed at any other time.
- Notifications: Used to send you alerts about new tee times posted by your connections, incoming join requests and responses, direct messages, and connection requests. You can disable notifications at any time in your device settings.
- Location (city-level): Your city is entered manually in your profile and is used to show nearby tee times and golfers. Fairway Finders does not access your device's precise GPS location and does not track your location in the background.
7. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:
- Apple Sign In / Google Sign In: For authentication. We receive your name and email but not your password.
- Push notification services (Apple APNs): To deliver tee time and message notifications to your device.
- Map services: To display course locations and directions.
We do not sell your personal information to third parties.
8. Your Rights
- Access: You can view your profile data at any time in the app.
- Edit: You can update your profile and preferences at any time.
- Delete: You can delete your account and all associated data through the app or by emailing us.
- Opt-out: You can disable push notifications in your device settings at any time.
9. Children's Privacy
Fairway Finders is intended for users 18 years and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encrypted password storage and secure data transmission. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or via email. The updated policy will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
